Anthony Jerome "Spud" Webb (born July 13, 1963 in Dallas , Texas ) is a retired American basketball player .

At just 1.70 meters, he is one of the smallest professional basketball players in NBA history . It compensated for its size disadvantage with an extraordinary bounce. He was the smallest player to ever win an NBA slam dunk contest (1986).

Career

Due to his size, most colleges initially showed little interest in accepting him into the team after graduating from high school. He eventually joined the Midland Junior College team , which he led to a national junior title in 1982. As a result, North Carolina State University became aware of Webb, which offered him a scholarship.

Webb spent most of his active time in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks , but was also active for a short time for the Sacramento Kings , the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Orlando Magic .

In 1998 he ended his basketball career.
