The Santander Arena (until October 2013 Sovereign Center ) is a multifunctional arena in the US city ​​of Reading in the state of Pennsylvania . It has been named Santander Bank since October 2013 . The hall in Berks County has been the home of the ECHL's Reading Royals ice hockey team since it opened in 2001 .

history

Inaugurated in September 2001, the arena was built on the site of the Astor Theater . The theater was closed in 1975, stood empty and was demolished in 1997 for the new building. The Santander Arena includes the Santander Performing Arts Center (previously The Rajah Shrine Temple ) and the Reading Eagle Theater with 2,500 to 4,500 seats.

The Santander Arena is currently used by the ECHL's Reading Royals ice hockey team; The Reading Express of the Indoor Football League (IFL) occurred from 2006 to 2012 on to their games in the hall. The New York Majesty from the Legends Football League (LFL) resided in Sovereign Center from 2009 to 2010. The Reading Railers Premier Basketball League team was based in the hall in 2008, but no longer competed in the 2008/09 season. In addition, it is the scene of u. a.
