The Major Indoor Soccer League ( MISL ), and 2009 National Indoor Soccer League , was a professional American Indoor Football League , which existed from 2008 to 2014. It was the unofficial successor to the 2008 Major Indoor Soccer League . Four teams played in the MISL until 2008, one was added via the American Indoor Soccer League, which was also closed in 2008. In the last season of 2014 six teams took part. This moved to the Major Arena Soccer League .

The league name and all other rights are owned by the United Soccer Leagues .

history

The National Indoor Soccer League was one of three indoor soccer leagues that emerged in 2008 after the dissolution of the second Major Indoor Soccer League. The others were the Professional Arena Soccer League and the Xtreme Soccer League. The NISL and XSL had similar structures, as many of the former MISL teams passed over there. The same rules were also applied as in the Major Indoor Soccer League.

In July 2009 the XSL stopped its gaming operations for one year. This made the National Indoor Soccer League the highest and most profitable indoor soccer league in the United States. The XSL never returned and the NISL took over Milwaukee Wave.

For the 2009/2010 season the name was changed to Major Indoor Soccer League.
