Christoph Steiner (journalist)

Christoph Steiner (* 3. September 1952 ) is a German journalist and since the early 1990s, editor in Lüneburg appearing national newspaper for the Luneburg Heath .

Life and work

Christoph Steiner began his journalistic activity in 1976 with a traineeship at the local daily newspaper Landeszeitung für die Lüneburger Heide (LZ), which is self- published by Landeszeitung für die Lüneburger Heide GmbH , based in Lüneburg and whose target distribution area is the Lüneburg district in addition to its place of publication and includes the municipalities of Tespe and Bienenbüttel . After completing his internship, Steiner worked as a sports reporter at LZ for more than ten years . In 1992 he became editor-in-chief of LZ, which has a full editorial team .

He regularly writes comments on social and political issues as well as on events in the region. In order to give school newspapers in the Lüneburg schools in the city and district their own forum, Steiner developed the youth website Scrab ( s chnell, c lever, r asant, a ktuell and b issig), which is only written by young people and which has been running since September 2004 LZ enclosed on the last Thursday of the month. According to Steiner, it is important for the state newspaper to "make the points of view of young people accessible to a broader public". Under Steiner's direction, the state newspaper developed its own website (www.landeszeitung.de) as well as the LZsport.de website , which has been offering information on sports in the region since the end of 2006 .

Steiner is often involved as a moderator at public events on social, local political and economic issues in the city of Lüneburg and the region , or as a panelist in panel discussions or speaker .

Honorary positions

Until 2005, Christoph Steiner was a member of the board of trustees of the St. Nicolai Community Foundation , which is committed to the preservation of Lüneburg's Nikolaikirche and the integration of people with disabilities into church and society as well as promoting church music in Lüneburg parishes. He is on the advisory board of the Förderkreis Leuphana e. V. , which promotes the development of the Leuphana University Lüneburg through various measures and actions. The support group was founded in the spring of 2008 by a group of entrepreneurs from Lüneburg and other personalities from the city. The task of the advisory board affiliated at the end of 2008 is to “identify and name suitable measures to support Leuphana”.
