The Van Andel Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Grand Rapids , Michigan . The hall was named after the entrepreneur Jay Van Andel , who was born in the city and contributed $ 11.5 million to build the building.

The $ 75 million Van Andel Arena opened on October 6, 1996 after the hall was completed with 10,834 seats for sporting events and up to 13,184 seats for concerts.
