The Brisbane Entertainment Center ( BEC for short ) is a multi-purpose hall in the Boondall suburb of the Australian metropolis of Brisbane , the capital of the state of Queensland . The basketball team the Brisbane Bullets in the National Basketball League (NBL) which next to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC), here their home games.

history

The multifunctional arena was built from 1985 to 1986 and cost around AUD 71 million . With 11,000 seats for theater and musical performances and a capacity of 14,500 for concerts, the Brisbane Entertainment Center is the largest concert and entertainment venue in the city.

Events

During his Bad World Tour in 1987, Michael Jackson performed in the sold out hall on November 27th and 28th. At the second concert he was supported vocally by Stevie Wonder . On November 19, 1990, the British world star Eric Clapton performed in front of 14,500 spectators as part of his Journeyman World Tour in the arena. On March 16 and 17, 2016 Madonna gave two concerts during her Rebel Heart Tour in the hall. When the singer asked the fan Josephine Georgiou onto the stage, Madonna pulled the blouse off the 17-year-old young woman so that her breast could be seen. Madonna apologized and Georgiou described the action as "the best time of my life". Relatives wanted to take legal action against the artist, which Georgiou prevented.
