The Frank Erwin Center is a multi-purpose hall on the grounds of the University of Texas in Austin , Texas .
history
The arena was designed by architects Wilson, Crain, Anderson, and for 34 million US dollars built. The foundation stone was laid in August 1974. The hall was opened on November 29, 1977. The hall was renovated in 2001. The hall was expanded two years later. The hall is home to the Texas Longhorns ( National Collegiate Athletic Association ) and the Austin Wranglers ( Arena Football League ). In addition to sporting events, the hall is also used for concerts. Internationally successful artists such as Bee Gees , Neil Diamond , Paul McCartney , Prince , Radiohead and The Cure have performed here .
