Parable ( Russian Парабе́ль ) is a village (selo) in Tomsk Oblast in Russia with 6096 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 320 km as the crow flies north-west of the Tomsk Oblast Administrative Center in the West Siberian lowlands . It is located on the right branch of the estuary (also known as the Poloi ) of the eponymous river Parabel about a kilometer above its mouth in Ob, a good kilometer wide . Depending on the water level, the water of the Ob can also flow in the opposite direction through this arm and then flow off through the left estuary, which only flows into the Ob about 60 km as the crow flies northwest at the neighboring district center of Kargassok .

Parable administrative center is the Rajons Parabelski and seat of the rural community Parabelskoje selskoje posselenije. The municipality also includes the villages of Goleshchichino (4 km northwest), Kostarjowo (then northwest), Saosero (4 km west), Tolmachowo (3 km west) and Wjalowo (3 km northwest) as well as the villages Bugry and Suchuschino immediately south of Parabel and the settlement of Kirzavod.

history

The place originated in 1600 as one of the early Russian settlements in the region. It was named after the river, the name of which is of unclear origin ( Turkic or (pra) Uralic ), but in no way refers to the word parable , which is derived from ancient Greek .

Since November 20, 1935 Parabel has been the administrative seat of a Rajon named after him.
