Malahide

Malahide ( Irish Mullach Íde ) is a seaside resort in County Fingal, northeast of Dublin . It can be reached by train in around 20 minutes. The place can also be reached quickly from Dublin by bus and car. Malahide is by the sea and has a harbor. The place has 13,039 inhabitants (2011).

Malahide Castle

In Malahide is the Malahide Castle , an 11th century castle. From 1185 to 1976 it was inhabited by the Talbot family. This sold the castle to County Dublin ; since then you can visit it. Guided tours are offered regularly in the castle. There is also a toy museum, the Talbot Botanical Gardens and playgrounds on the grounds of the castle. The castle is surrounded by a large park.

The headquarters of the Nordmännedr in Fingal was in Malahide, (formerly called Inver Domnon) with the Longphort "Old Yellow Walls".
