Charles Alfred “Chuck” Leavell (born April 28, 1952 in Birmingham, Alabama ) is an American pianist , singer , songwriter , who is also known as a forester, forest conservationist and author .

Live and act

The rock and blues musician began his professional career in the mid-1960s and enjoyed his first successes with the gold single Don't Take Her She's All I've Got by Freddie North in 1967. The following year Leavell joined the band The South Camp . There he played among other things at the side of his mentor Paul Hornsby . In the 1970s, the pianist achieved great success as a member of the Allman Brothers Band . In 1976 he was one of the founding members of the jazz rock band Sea Level . Since 1982 the American has been at every Rolling Stones concert , which he also supports as a session musician. He cares u. a. also about the creation of the set lists.

He and his family developed their own forests into a natural forest and became a nature and forest protector . Between 1989 and 1992 Leavell worked with Eric Clapton . With him he denied three world tours: the Journeyman World Tour (1989-1991), the Clapton Harrison Tour (1991), in which he also performed with George Harrison , and the Eric Clapton World Tour (1992), in which he was one played a prominent role as a keyboardist . He toured Europe with David Gilmour and his band from June 25 to July 28, 2016. As part of this tour, the two concerts on July 10 and 11, 2016 in the amphitheater in Pompeii were recorded and released on Blu-ray Disc, DVD and CD under the title "David Gilmour - Live at Pompeii". (1.2)

Prizes and awards

Along with his wife, Leavell was recognized by the American Forest Foundation in 1990 and the American Tree Farm System in 1998 as Georgia's Outstanding Foresters of the Year. In 1999 they received the national version of the same award. He was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2004 . In 2012 he was honored with the Honorary Forest Ranger Award by the National Forest Service . In the same year he was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for his work with the Allman Brothers and in 2013 was nominated for a Blues Music Award as a pianist .
