Martin 000-42
Martin 000-42 is an acoustic steel string guitar in the triple-0 or auditorium design, which was handmade in 1939 by the manufacturer Martin Guitars in Nazareth (Pennsylvania) . The guitar in the 000-42 form is considered very rare.
Replica
In 1997, Eric Clapton ordered a replica of the guitar from Martin Guitars, which he first used at the 1993 concerts at the Royal Albert Hall . This guitar was also used on Clapton's Far East Tour and in 1998 on the Pilgrim World Tour. In 2004, this replica was auctioned for $ 791,500 at Christie's in New York . It is considered the most expensive acoustic guitar.
After the worldwide success of Unplugged , Martin Guitars dedicated a signature western guitar to Clapton as the first musician .
An authentic replica of Martin's 1939 model was temporarily available.
