Steve Ferrone
Steve Ferrone (born April 25, 1950 in Brighton , England ) is a British drummer who achieved fame primarily as a member of the Average White Band and whose playing style is influenced by the Motown soul of the 1960s.
After his training in France he became the drummer of the Average White Band after the death of Robbie McIntosh in 1974. After their separation in 1982 he worked mainly as a live musician, for example for Slash , Eric Clapton , Brian Auger , Tom Petty , Duran Duran , Chaka Khan , Climie Fisher and Jaco Pastorius . In 1989 he was reunited with the Average White Band. But he also worked as a studio musician for Duran Duran's album Notorious from 1986, among others . Steve Ferrone has played with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers since 1994 .
On March 15, 2004, Ferrone played the song While My Guitar Gently Weeps with Jeff Lynne , Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Prince , which was composed in 1968 by George Harrison . The occasion was Prince's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame .
