Gebüg is a district of Schönau (Palatinate) , is located in the district of Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate and has about 80 inhabitants.

location

Gebüg is located in Wasgau , as the southern part of the Palatinate Forest is also called together with the northern part of the Vosges , in a so-called high valley. Around three kilometers to the east is the core town of Schönau and to the west of the municipality of Fischbach bei Dahn is the town of Petersbächel . To Gebüg belongs to the location in the immediate vicinity of Petersbächel Biehlerhof . South of the village is the Maimont . The Petersbächel runs around one kilometer north of the settlement area . About one kilometer south of Gebüg is the border between Germany and France .

history

The Nemeters used to live in the immediate catchment area . From the early modern era, the residents were mainly employees of the Schönau iron and steel works . In 1657 the place was referred to as "Gebüch" and in 1818 as "Gebüsch". In 1928, Gebüg had 115 residents who lived in 24 residential buildings. Both denominations belonged to the parish of Schönau at that time. At the beginning of the Second World War , the residents of the place, which was in the Red Zone , were evacuated. In 2010 the place had a total of 79 inhabitants.

politics

Gebüg forms the only district within the community of Schönau to which the Biehlerhof also belongs. The district has its own local advisory board and a local mayor .

The town council is composed of three (until 2019 five) members in the local elections on 26 May 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Rainer Nagel was confirmed as local mayor in the direct election on May 26, 2019 with 62.90% of the vote for another five years.

Attractions

In the vicinity of Gebüg on the Maimont there is the so-called Peace Cross , a Celtic ring wall and a Celtic sacrificial bowl; In addition, the ruins of the Blumenstein castle and - already on the French territory - the Wasigenstein castle ruins are worth seeing.

District road 90 runs through Gebüg . In the 19th century there was a sheep farm southeast of the village.
