The Petersbächel is an approximately 2.6 km long right tributary of the Sauer in the southern Palatinate .

course

The Petersbächel rises at an altitude of 249  m above sea level. NN in the western Wasgau in the village of the same name , directly north of the Biehlerhof . It initially flows about 50 m in a northerly direction and is then fed on its left by the Biehlerhofbach . The Petersbächel now flows through a poor meadow and after a good 300 m on the same side is strengthened by another brook. It then crosses under the Vogesenstraße ( K 43 ), flows around the Unterpetersbächlerhof from the east, then takes up the small Wiesenbach on its right side , then runs along the western foot of the Nesselberg and finally flows out at a height of 217  m above sea level. NN on the southern edge of Fischbach near Dahn northeast of the St. Ulrichs Church in the Saarbach .

nature

In the upper reaches east of the village of the same name, the Petersbächel flows through a rough meadow landscape. Pastures for horses , cattle and sheep alternate with fallow land and heather . Many rare animal and plant species that are characteristic of this area of ​​life live and grow in this zone.

Another valuable biotope is the Bachtal between Fischbach and Unterpetersbächlerhof. It is characterized by partially boggy wet meadows with reed vegetation and Großseggenriede . Other plant species typical of wetlands thrive here and the corresponding animal species can also be observed there.
