The Wasgaudorf Petersbächel (Petersbronner Hof) is a district of Fischbach bei Dahn . It is located in the district of Südwestpfalz ( Rhineland-Palatinate ).

Petersbächel is located in the Dahn rock country . It has about 250 inhabitants.

The place lies at the foot of the Florenberg and the Maimont with its famous Peace Cross . The Unterpetersbächlerhof belongs to Petersbächel .

history

On the Maimont there is a Celtic ring wall and a sacrificial bowl from the pre-Roman Iron Age . The ridge on the German-French border and the rock massif on the Wasigenstein are considered the setting for the Walthari song .

The oldest surviving mention of the village of Petersbächel comes from 1747. Since 1794 it was an independent municipality. The village was in the Lemberg district of the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt and there in the Obersteinbach district school .

In the course of the French Revolution , the part of the County of Hanau-Lichtenberg on the left bank of the Rhine - and with it the Lemberg and Petersbächel offices - fell to France in 1794. After the end of Napoleonic rule, Petersbächel came to the Rhine District in the Kingdom of Bavaria . In 1829 Petersbächel was incorporated into Fischbach.

During the Second World War , at the beginning of the western campaign , on May 13, 1940, the battle for the Maimont took place here. Most of the dead in this battle are buried in the Dahn military cemetery. A peace cross has been placed on the mountain in memory of the event since 1950.

The Petersbächel district is the only local district in the Fischbach community and has its own local advisory board and mayor .

The town council consists of five members in the municipal election held on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Geord Dillmann, long-time mayor of Petersbächel, was confirmed in his office for another five years in the direct election on May 26, 2019 with a share of the vote of 65.52%.
