Richard Kohler

Richard "Richie" Kohler is an American technical wreck diver and shipwreck historian who has been diving shipwrecks since 1980. Along with John Chatterton, Kohler was one of the co-hosts of the television series Deep Sea Detectives on the History Channel . He is a consultant to the film and television industry on shipwreck and diving projects.

Kohler's lifelong passion is diving famous shipwrecks around the world, including the Andrea Doria and most recently the Titanic . From the Russian research ship Keldysh, Kohler dived the berth of the wreck at 3786 m in the research submarine Mir several times .

Kohler's project to identify U 869 , a German submarine from the Second World War that lies off the coast of New Jersey, was the subject of several TV documentaries and the bestseller Shadow Divers by Robert Kurson, which is translated into German as Im Suction of the deep has appeared. A film based on the book will be made by 20th Century Fox with Peter Weir as director and producer.

Richie Kohler is currently one of the presenters on the television series Dive Portal Magazine .
