Jay Laga'aia (born September 10, 1963 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand - Australian actor .

Life

Jay Laga'aia comes from a large Samoan - Polynesian family and grew up in South Auckland . He has eight other siblings or half-siblings.

In the mid-1980s, Laga'aia began to be active as an actor for the first time and had first roles in various television series. These include mostly New Zealand and Australian productions such as Xena - Die Kriegerprinzessin (1995–1998), Water Rats - Die Hafencops (1996–2001), All Saints (2005–2006) and McLeod's Töchter (2007).

As a film actor, he had a supporting role for the first time in the fantasy film The Navigator (1988). His most famous film role is that of Captain Typho , which he embodied in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005).

From 2008 to 2009 he played the role of Chase in the fantasy series Legend of the Seeker . From 2010 to 2012 he also appeared in the Australian soap opera Home and Away in the role of Elijah Johnson .

In 2017, he participated in the third season of the Australian television show I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! part.

Laga'aia has been married to Sandra Jane, a British native, since 1990 and has a total of eight children. His eldest son comes from a previous relationship. He now has both New Zealand and Australian citizenship and lives with his family near Sydney when he is not filming .
