Shortland Street is a New Zealand soap set in a modern hospital in the fictional Ferndale suburb of Auckland . It is New Zealand's longest running soap and made its debut on May 25, 1992. It is broadcast on TV2 , a free-to-air television channel operated by the state-run TVNZ . Since then it has been running from 7 p.m. on weekdays.
