Astrid Polak (* 1935 in Reichenberg , then Czechoslovakia ) is a German actress and voice actress .

Life

Education and theater

Astrid Polak came after the end of World War II with her family as a child refugee from the German Sudetenland to Ludwigsburg in Baden-Württemberg . There she attended the local Goethe-Gymnasium and received ballet lessons. At the age of 18 she was hired as a dancer at the Landestheater Coburg , where she took on the leading role in the children's play.

From 1961 to 1964 she received private acting lessons from Margret Langen in Munich . She had her first theater engagements at the Stadttheater Pforzheim and the Staatstheater Saarbrücken . She then worked as a freelance actress in Munich, where, in addition to her “official” theater engagements, she also took part in productions in Munich's independent theater scene.

In the 1985/86 season she was on a theater tour through Germany with Euro-Studio Landgraf ; she took on the role of judge Hesther Salomon in Peter Shaffer's play Equus in a production by Charles Regnier . In 1988 she appeared at Theater44 in Munich, where she worked with Horst A. Reichel . From 1990, with interruptions until 2013, she was repeatedly seen in productions of the independent Munich theater " Theater Much Ado About Nothing ". There she played u. a. directed by Eos Schopohl , Andreas Seyfarth and Margit Carls . From 1996 to 2001 she played at private theaters in Munich. From the 2002/03 season she appeared regularly in crime plays and crime comedies at the Blutenburg Theater in Munich . She was there in numerous repertoire classics on stage, u. a. as Mrs. Elvery in The Black Abbot (season 2002/03), as Mrs. Wilberforth / Wimmerforce in Ladykillers (season 2003/04), as Lady Emily in Ten Little Negroes (season 2004/05), as Miss Marple in Mord im Rectory (2005/06 season), as Mrs. Barrymore in Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of Baskerville (2006) and Mrs. Boyle in The Mousetrap (2007). In the 2011/12 season she appeared again at the Blutenburg Theater as Miss Bennett in the crime play The Unexpected Guest by Agatha Christie .

From 2007 she appeared regularly at the Franconian State Theater in Dinkelsbühl . There she played u. a. Marie Hoprecht, the sister of the cobbler Wilhelm Voigt , in Der Hauptmann von Köpenick (2007), the old village school teacher Miss Christina in Don Camillo and Peppone (2007), Maude in Harold and Maude (2007/08 season), Ms. Brigitte in The Broken Krug (2008/09 season) and Miss Furnival in Comedy in the Dark by Peter Shaffer (2008/09 season).

In 2014 she was a guest at the comedy in the Marquardt in Stuttgart as the old nanny Nana in Uncle Wanja . In 2014 she played Maude again as part of the “Ludwigsburg Theater Summer”. She had other theater engagements at the TamS Theater in Munich (2015) and at the Metropoltheater in Munich.

Movie and TV

Astrid Polak has worked in numerous cinema and television productions since the mid-1980s, mostly in prominent supporting roles.
