action

The young Charlotte Conrad travels to the south of France to settle an inheritance. Her late uncle Olivier, with whom she spent several years of her childhood, bequeathed half of the funeral home he ran. Charlotte is already thinking about what to do with the property and finally arrives with the intention of selling it. But she does the math without André Vidal, who worked for her uncle for years and inherited the other half of the company. He and employee Gilbert want to continue running the company and offer Charlotte to act as a silent partner in the background. It seems like the two can't find a common denominator. Charlotte declines the offer of Andrés to play boules and let the winner decide how to proceed. Since the owner of the pension she booked, Rose, has passed away, she is staying with the two men in the inherited house. Careful about the implementation of her plan, Charlotte anonymously calls the tax office after looking at the files and incites the tax investigators on André, who discover that Olivier has buried many more corpses than he stated in the documents and thus more than € 88,000 Has saved taxes. Knowing that he could not continue the business under these conditions, André decides that Olivier's funeral should be the last of the funeral home.

Charlotte has now realized that André is the boy next door, whom she often played with in her childhood. After the death of his parents, Olivier had taken him in. Charlotte now feels guilty about calling the tax office. But the village still does not want to miss the company and quickly collects € 18,500, as its founder Olivier always had an open ear and a word of comfort for the relatives of the deceased.

After admitting with a heavy heart that she was to blame for the tax investigation, Charlotte now accepts Andrés' offer to play boules. Both learned the game from Olivier as children and Charlotte wins. However, she decides that André and Gilbert can continue to run the company and that she will go home and pursue her job as a management consultant. But on the taxi ride to the airport, she decides to stay in town, because she has fallen in love with the area and with André through her many childhood memories. So Charlotte takes over the pension from the late Rose.
