The State Theater Dinkelsbühl is a state theater based in Dinkelsbühl in Bavaria . It produces plays, musicals and revues as well as plays for children and young people. A permanent ensemble of five actors is regularly supplemented by guests.

history

The theater was founded in 1953 by Erich Krempin as "Kleines Burgschauspiel" in Rothenburg ob der Tauber and in 1956 moved to Dinkelsbühl. Lessing's Emilia Galotti was given on October 26, 1956, as the opening performance in the auditorium of the Christoph vonSchmid School in Dinkelsbühl . From 1962 it was operated as a Franconian-Swabian city theater by a special-purpose association of the cities of Dinkelsbühl, Donauwörth and Bad Windsheim , and from 1993 solely by the city of Dinkelsbühl with the support of the state of Bavaria, the district of Middle Franconia and the district of Ansbach . The city theater was elevated to the state stage in 2006 and has been called the Dinkelsbühl State Theater ever since .

Venues

The main venues are the theater in the Spitalhof in a listed barn from the 16th century in Dinkelsbühl (opened in 2008, around 200 seats) and the open-air stage on the battlements in Dinkelsbühl (opened in 2005, around 300 seats).
