Whitney Cummings (born September 4, 1982 in Washington, DC ) is an American comedian , actress , screenwriter and producer . She became known as a part of the MTV series Punk'd and as the source of ideas for the sitcoms Whitney and 2 Broke Girls .

life and career

Whitney Cummings grew up as the daughter of a public relations agent in Georgetown , Washington, DC . She attended Holy Trinity School. She graduated from St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac in 2000 . In 2004, after three years, Cummings graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a magna cum laude degree in communications and film studies . She financed her studies by herself by working as a model during her school days.

Whitney Cummings began her career as a stand-up comedian after graduating in 2004. She moved to Los Angeles because of her involvement in the MTV series Punk'd . In 2007, the Variety listed Cummings in the list of 10 Comic to Watch in 2007 . From then on, she was in numerous series, including The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien , to see. She was also the first female comedian to appear in front of a public audience in Dubai and Beirut .

In 2004, Cummings had her first role in the film EMR . In 2006 she appeared in the short film Life Is Short and in an episode of the television series What About Brian . In 2008 she played the role of Stephanie in the film In Love with the Bride . From 2008 to 2009 she was in four episodes of The Tony Rock Project with the party. In 2011, Cummings was able to accommodate two of her projects on various American networks : the series 2 Broke Girls , in which she acts as a screenwriter and producer , at the broadcaster CBS and the sitcom Whitney , in which she plays herself and at the same time also wrote some screenplays for Series wrote, as well as works as a producer, for the broadcaster NBC . The latter was discontinued in May 2013 after two seasons, while 2 Broke Girls ran until 2017 and ended with the sixth season. In 2012 she got at the station E! her own talk show . The production of Love You, Mean It with Whitney Cummings , however, was discontinued in February 2013 after only one season. She acted as producer and screenwriter on this series.
