In New York City living Tom and Hannah are friends since their time in college ten years ago. While Tom is a notorious playboy, Hannah longs for a committed relationship. Tom likes this situation, who likes to meet Hannah after having sex with other women. When Hannah goes on a business trip to Scotland for several weeks , Tom realizes that he cannot be happy with any woman other than her, and he will tell her that when she returns. However, Hannah met the wealthy distillery owner Colin in Scotland and wants to marry him. She asks Tom to be her first bridesmaid. Tom agrees and hopes that he can prevent the wedding in time. After a few mishaps - he accidentally invites a dildo representative to the bridal evening - he tries to be the "best bridesmaid in the world".

Finally the whole wedding party travels to Scotland, where the wedding ceremony takes place at Colin Castle. At a game the night before the wedding, Tom and Hannah kiss. Tom tries to persuade her not to marry Colin, but Hannah thinks he's just afraid of losing her as a friend. Tom then leaves; but on the way he thinks about it and drives back. In the end he made it to church on horseback just in time. Hannah realizes that Tom really loves her and tells Colin that he would be the perfect man for another woman. Eventually, Tom and Hannah get married in New York.

Kenneth Turan wrote in the Los Angeles Times on May 2, 2008 that the film was a remake of My Best Friend's Wedding , although it is claimed it is not. The main actors are "very good" ; however, the viewer wishes they had something more interesting to do.

Bill Zwecker wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on May 2, 2008 that the film was very similar to the 1997 comedy My Best Friend's Wedding . In this film, the protagonist has a different gender and there is a different ending, but in love with the bride otherwise follows the trail of the predecessor. There is nothing new. Only the "charming" actor would the "formulaic and senseless" ( "formulaic nonsense" save) film to the end does not take off from the beginning of the mediocrity.
