Dorothy Moore (born October 13, 1946 in Jackson , Mississippi ) is an American pop , R&B and soul singer .

biography

In the mid-1960s, Moore was the lead singer of The Poppies , which had a small hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with the song Lullaby of Love . The first solo singles appeared in 1967/68 under the pseudonym Dottie Cambridge. However, it was only successful from 1973 under the name Dorothy Moore. The songs Cry Like a Baby (1973) and We Can Love (1975) were small hits on the R&B charts.

The international breakthrough came in 1976 with the single Misty Blue , which not only reached number 2 on the R&B charts, but also climbed to number 3 on the US pop charts and number 5 on the UK charts . With Funny How Time Slips Away Moore was able to build on this success in the same year. 1977 followed with I Believe You a third hit in the English and US charts. Until 1982, a few songs rose to middle positions on the R&B charts.

Despite numerous publications up into the 2000s, there was no further commercial success.
