Elisabeth Nettebeck (born October 11, 1896 in Gelsenkirchen ; † October 11, 1969 ) was a German politician and member of the state parliament (CDU).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and high school with the completion of the Abitur , she studied and passed the teacher examination for elementary and secondary schools. In 1923 she became managing director of the Catholic German Women's Association.

Nettebeck became a member of the CDU in 1946, she was a. a. Member of the cultural policy committee of the CDU federal party. In the cultural policy committee of the state parliament, she campaigned resolutely for her own venue in Gelsenkirchen and achieved that the council approved the construction. To this day, the theater is one of the most outstanding works of German post-war architecture. Architects and artists celebrated Nettebeck as the “mother of new theaters”. Today a bronze plaque in the foyer of the theater commemorates them. In Gelsenkirchen, Elisabeth-Nettebeck-Platz was named after her.

From July 5, 1950 to July 23, 1966, Nettebeck was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . In the second electoral term she was elected directly in constituency 096 Gelsenkirchen-West, otherwise through her party's state list.
