Hans Rudolf Tschudi (born October 11, 1641 in Gretschins ; † June 24, 1716 in Gretschins) was an evangelical reformed pastor in Wartau in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland at the time of the so-called Wartau trade 1694/95 .

biography

Hans Rudolf Tschudi von Glarus is the son of Herkules Tschudi (1602–1671) and Margreth, née Elmer, and the father of Johann Heinrich Tschudi (1675–1750). All three, Herkules, Hans Rudolf and Johann Heinrich worked as pastors in Wartau in uninterrupted order from 1629 to 1750. A short time later, a grandson of the latter, Johann Konrad Schindler (1740–1811) held the same office from 1766 to 1811 throughout his life.

Hans Rudolf Tschudi studied theology in Zurich in 1659 , followed by a stay in Geneva in 1662 and then worked for a year and a half as vicar in Buchs SG . On March 19, 1665, a Palm Sunday , the parish in Matt GL elected him as the new pastor. In December 1671 he was determined to succeed his father in Wartau, where he gave his sermon on January 7, 1672.

Hans Rudolf Tschudi was the father of fifteen children. He was married four times and three wives died. The reformed pastor became known not only for his long office activities, but especially for the Wartau trade of 1694/95.
