Departments

Leisure and recreational sports department

The recreational and popular sport department represents the recreational riders and amateur athletes of the Icelandic horse riding industry. In close cooperation with the national associations of the IPZV, the clubs, farms and studs and with the participation of as many IPZV members as possible, the department takes care of Icelandic horse riding as a recreational and popular sport. The Hestadagar concept was developed in 2007 .

The advisory body of the department management is the specialist committee for leisure and recreational sports, in which the national associations of the IPZV are represented.

Sports department

The sports department is responsible for promoting and organizing Icelandic equestrian sport. This includes the approval of tenders and the awarding of important tournaments such as the German Championship (DIM) and World Cup qualifications as well as the definition of the tournament regulations in the Icelandic horse test regulations (IPO) or participation in the sporting bodies of national and international associations (FN, FEIF, etc.).

The sports management's advisory body is the Sports Committee (SpA), in which, in addition to the national associations of the IPZV, athletes and judges are represented.

Breeding department

The aim of breeding is to preserve the breed-typical characteristics of the Icelandic horse in conformation, character and gait distribution. In close cooperation with the mother country of Icelandic horses, an international breed standard was developed, on the basis of which the horses are judged in Icelandic-specific breeding tests. Great importance is attached to rideability, gait distribution - especially tölt and racing pass - as well as temperament and good character. Both imported horses and horses drawn on the continent are tested. Only purebred animals are recognized as "Icelandic horses", all of whose ancestors can be traced back to ancestors born in Iceland.

The advisory body of the breeding management is the breeding committee (ZA), in which breeders representatives are included in addition to the national associations of the IPZV.

Judging department

The “Judging” department takes care of the judges in the IPZV.

Training department

The training department develops the various training and further education concepts for riders, trainers and judges.
