Projects and activities

Youth team

One of the main focuses of the association is the promotion of youth sports. The members of the IPZV Nord include around 900 children, young people and juniors. The association actively promotes sporting youth performance and is the only Icelandic horse association in Germany to have its own youth team with 60 members. For membership (up to 21 years of age) in the youth team, the achievement of qualification points in various sports exams is a prerequisite. The youth team is supervised and guided by a professional youth trainer and a team leader. The members of the IPZV Nord youth team are among the most successful sports riders at the various national and international sports tournaments, the German Icelandic Horse Championships (DIM) and the German Youth Icelandic Horse Championships (DJIM).

North German stallion parade

The North German Stallion Parade is the oldest event of its kind for Icelandic horses. Developed by the then breed warden of the IPZV Nord, Uwe Schenk, it was held for the first time on April 22nd, 1989 in Jesteburg in the Nordheide. The North German Stallion Parade is designed as a show of the stallions and their offspring, which largely leaves the breeders and owners free to choose how their horses are presented. The stallion parade is held annually, traditionally in April, as the start of the season and combined with an international sports tournament.

North German Championships

The North German Icelandic Horse Sport Championships were launched in 1973 by the IPZV Regional Group North and have been held annually since then. Until 2004, the North German Championships were exclusively held by the IPZV Nord e. V. organized. Since 2005, the championships have been held alternately in one of the three regional associations in cooperation with the three IPZV regional associations Schleswig-Holstein / Hamburg, Weser-Ems and Hanover-Bremen. The IPZV Nord e. V. takes on the event for the Schleswig-Holstein / Hamburg regional association.

The North German Championships are the annual high-performance sporting highlight of Icelandic horse riding in the northern German states of Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Bremen, Berlin and Brandenburg. The North German Championships are organized as an international sports tournament.

Hestadagar

Hestadagar are events with competitions for recreational riders . The Hestadagar idea was developed by a working group of Icelandic horse riders from the IPZV Nord e. V. Developed in the late 1990s and successfully tested. The Hestadagar concept with the guiding principles, examples of competition tasks and guidelines was developed in 2007 after a broad participation process by the popular sports department of the IPZV umbrella association (Icelandic Horse Riders and Breeders Association) and published throughout Germany. The principles of the Hestadagar concept were included in 2008 by the German Equestrian Association (FN) in the " Competition Regulations for Mass Sports (WBO) " and have now successfully established themselves as a competition and event form throughout Germany.
