The Lotus T127 is a Formula 1 racing car and the Lotus Racing car in the 2010 Formula 1 season .
The Lotus T127 is the first Formula 1 racing car of that name since Team Lotus retired in 1994 . The vehicle was designed by Mike Gascoyne and has the Cosworth CA2010 2.4 liter V8 engine in the rear. The first test drive took place on February 17, 2010, Lotus test driver Fairuz Fauzy . In the races the T127 was driven by Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen .
In the first two races in Bahrain and Australia , the two Lotus drivers were almost six seconds per lap behind the leaders, both in practice and in the race. Neither driver could score any points with the car until the end of the season. The best positioning for Kovalainen was a 12th place in the Japanese Grand Prix . Trulli also achieved his best result of the season with a 13th place at this Grand Prix.
On September 1st, Nabil Jeffri conducted an aerodynamic test on the tarmac at the Imperial War Museum Duxford . At 16 years and 312 days, he was the youngest test driver in Formula 1 history.
