The HRT F110 is a Formula 1 racing car and the racing car of the Hispania Racing F1 Team in the 2010 Formula 1 season , designed by Dallara .
The HRT F110 was originally developed for Campos Grand Prix . After the team's financial problems led to the takeover by José Ramon Carabante in February 2010, Dallara completed the car for Hispania Racing.
In terms of design, Dallara was strongly based on the Red Bull RB5 from the previous year. The V-nose in particular was derived from this vehicle. The F110 was powered by the 2.4-liter V8 engine from Cosworth . A seven-speed transmission from X-Trac was used for shifting. The car turned out to be hardly competitive. Geoff Willis , the team's technical advisor, was quoted as saying that the F110 is not up to date with Formula 1; Dallara has chosen simple, outdated solutions in many areas. The HRT F110 was not modified in any way during the 2010 season. It was the only Formula 1 car that contested all races of the year in the same form.
Due to the late completion of the two emergency vehicles, the team came to the Bahrain Grand Prix without any test kilometer . While Bruno Senna was able to drive a total of 28 laps in the Friday and Saturday training sessions, Karun Chandhok's car was only rolled out in qualifying training. Both F110s qualified at the end of the grid, but started the race from the pit lane. Chandhok retired after two laps due to an accident and Senna after 18 laps due to engine failure.
After the sixth round of the season, the Monaco Grand Prix , Chandhok reached four and his team-mate Senna two finishings. Chandhok achieved the best results with the two 14th places in Australia and Monaco.
