Alberto Vázquez-Figueroa (born October 11, 1936 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife ) is a Spanish writer.

Life

Vázquez-Figueroa spent childhood and youth in the now Moroccan desert in what was then the Spanish Sahara colony . His father was convicted during the Spanish Civil War in 1936 , deported there with his family for political reasons and joined the Tuareg . Several of his novels have been made into films for the cinema. As a journalist and foreign correspondent , he traveled through Africa and Latin America from 1965 to the late 1970s. His first novel was "Ébano". In 1980 the first big hit novel "Tuareg" was published, which was filmed in 1984 under the title "Tuareg - Il guerriero del deserto" (Eng. Gazel, the desert warrior ).

He currently lives in Tenerife .
