Mathias Auinger
Mathias Auinger (born May 8, 1810 in Lindach , † October 11, 1890 in Vienna ) was an Austrian paleontologist .
Auinger was a soldier and castle gendarme. In 1849 “Hofhausknecht im k. & k. Hof-Mineralien-Cabinet ”and 1859 overseer. From 1871 to 1882 he was a civil servant. He worked with Moritz Hoernes , with whom he wrote The Fossil Mollusks of the Tertiary Basin of Vienna , and Rudolf Hoernes , with whom he described mollusks from the Tertiary .
