Jerachmi'el Assa ( Hebrew יְרַחְמִיאֵל אסא; * March 7, 1919 in the Caucasus ; † October 11, 2011 ) was an Israeli politician.

Life

In the Jewish Agency for Israel he was a board member of the department responsible for Jews from the Middle East. He first worked for the Mossad le Alija Bet in Iraq. Among other things, he was involved in the implementation of "Operation Michaelberg", in which Jews were illegally flown from Iraq to Palestine by plane. Among the emigrants was the Zionist activist and therefore Shoshana Arbeli-Almoslino, who was persecuted by the Iraqi police . In 1953 and 1954 he worked for the illegal aliyah of Jews in Iran and Turkey. Since August 15, 1955, he was on the election list of the Achdut haAwoda . From September 19, 1958 to November 30, 1959 he was a member of the Knesset, to which he replaced the late Avraham Abaas .
