George McMillan Junior

George Duncan Hastie McMillan Jr. (born October 11, 1943 in Greenville , Butler County , Alabama ) is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party .

McMillan studied at Auburn University , where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966 ( magna cum laude ). He then continued his studies at the University of Virginia , graduating in 1969 and joining the Alabama Bar that same year. In 1973, McMillan was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives . From 1974 to 1978 he was a senator in the Alabama Senate . In 1976 McMillan received the title of Alabama's Hardest Working Senator . This predicate may have helped him to be named Lieutenant Governor of Alabama on November 7, 1978 . He took office the next year and held it until 1983, that is, for one legislative period.

On November 20, 1971, McMillan married Ann Louise Dial, with whom he has two children, a son and a daughter.
