Henry B. Gray

Henry Bramlette Gray (born February 8, 1867 in Calhoun County , Alabama , † April 30, 1919 ) was an American politician and the sixth lieutenant governor of Alabama from 1907 to 1911 .

After graduating from high school, Gray worked from 1885 at the Atlanta Constitution , a newspaper . In 1887 he changed his job and worked for Age-Herald until 1892 .

His political career began in 1896 when he was elected to the Birmingham City Council . A year later he was a member of the Department of Education. In 1900 he became a treasurer of Jefferson County . He held this office for four years. As early as 1895 he had gained experience in the financial sector as chairman of the Peoples Savings Bank and Trust Co. , one of the most famous regional banks .

With the election in 1906 as lieutenant governor of Alabama, Gray had reached his political zenith. He held this office from 1907 to 1911. Like his predecessor Russell McWhortor Cunningham and his successor Walter D. Seed , he was a member of the Democratic Party .

Since April 15, 1891 he was married to Bessie Martin. The two had married in Birmingham.
