Leven H. Ellis

Leven Handy Ellis (born April 6, 1881 in Nixburg , Coosa County , Alabama , † January 4, 1968 ) was an American politician .

Ellis studied at the University of Alabama , where he received his Bachelor of Laws in 1909 . He then began to practice in Columbiana . From 1927 to 1931 he was a Senator in the Alabama Senate , from 1936 to 1943 he was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives . In addition, Ellis held the office of mayor of Columbiana for two terms and was a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in 1940 . From 1943 to 1947 he was Lieutenant Governor of Alabama under Governor Chauncey Sparks .

Ellis had been married since September 30, 1908 and had five children.
