Steve Windom

Stephen Ralph "Steve" Windom (born November 6, 1949 in Florence , South Carolina ) is an American politician .

Windom graduated from the University of Alabama . From 1974 he practiced as a lawyer in Mobile . In 1989, Windom was elected to the Alabama Senate in a by- election. In the 1990 and 1994 elections, he was able to successfully defend his mandate. On November 3, 1998, he was elected lieutenant governor of Alabama and served from 1999 to 2003. Windom was the first Republican lieutenant governor of Alabama since Alexander McKinstry , who held this office from 1872 to 1874, and the third Republican lieutenant governor ever. In 2003, after retiring from politics, he founded Steve Windom, LLC .

Windom is married and has two sons.
