Walter D. Seed

Walter Dudley Seed Sr. (born June 26, 1864 in Tuscaloosa , Alabama , † December 3, 1959 ) was an American politician .

Walter Seed came from a family that produced many well-known personalities in the political and clerical fields. These were not only located in the United States but were distributed all over the world. Seed also had German ancestors.

Seed went through a successful school career that led him to the University of Alabama , where he became chairman of the local literature club. He also contributed articles to the university magazine , University Monthly . In 1883 he finished his studies with a bachelor's degree.

Despite his business interests, he was also politically ambitious. This was revealed in 1898, when he made a decisive contribution to the election defeat of the Populist Party . Two years earlier, he was named Tuscaloosa County's Treasurer, an office he would hold for four years. In 1906 his career took him to the position of State Treasurer of Alabama. Four years later he was able to crown his career with the election of lieutenant governor of the same state.

He was married to Ellen E. Foster since September 21, 1887.
