Vija Artmane
Vija Artmane , actually Alīda Artmane , (born August 21, 1929 in Kaive , Tukums , Latvia ; † October 11, 2008 in Strenči ) was a Latvian and Soviet actress .
Life
Alīda Artmane was born to Franz Artmann, a Baltic German , and Anna Zaborowska, a Polish woman, in Kaive, Latvia. She studied from 1946 to 1949 at the second studio of the Riga Daile Theater under Eduards Smiļģis . Artmane remained loyal to this stage as an actress until 1998 and could be seen here as Eliza Doolittle in George Bernard Shaw Pygmalion . From 1998 to 2000 she was part of the ensemble of the New Riga Theater.
Artmane made her film debut in Posle schtorma in 1957 . She had her breakthrough as a film actress in 1964 when she played Sonja in Mikhail Yershov's blood relationship . Numerous feature films followed, ranging from science fiction ( Tumannost Andromedy ) to adventure films ( The Arrows of Robin Hood ). In 1980, Razgovor s Korolewoi, a film portrait about Artmane, appeared. Vija Artmane released in 2004 with Ziemcieši. Mirkļi no manas dzīves her biography. She died in 2008 and was buried in the Pokrov Cemetery in Riga .
