Jack Boison Nethercutt (born October 11, 1913 in South Bend , † December 6, 2004 in Santa Monica ) was an American entrepreneur, museum founder and racing driver .

Entrepreneur

Jack Nethercutt was the eldest of three children of the couple, Carl (1888-1961) and Florence Nethercutt (1889-1923) in South Bend, in the US state of Indiana to the world. When his father married a second time after his mother's death in 1923, at the age of ten he moved to live with his aunt in Santa Monica , California , where he continued to live. He dropped out of his studies at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena to join his aunt's company.

Merle Nethercutt Norman developed skin care products for family members and close friends in the late 1920s . With the help of her nephew, the backyard business grew into a rapidly growing business. In 1931 Merle Norman opened the first shop in Santa Monica. While the aunt managed the production of the products, the nephew took care of marketing and sales . Small-scale product presentations were organized under the motto Try Before You Buy . As early as the 1930s, the concept made it possible for women in particular to become self-employed with the products on a franchise basis . The success proved the concept right, because in a very short time many Merle Morman shops were opened on the west coast of the USA. After Merle Nethercutt Norman's death in 1972, Jack Nethercutt took over management of the company, which is still family-owned today.
