Franz Joseph Sauter People (born March 4, 1793 in Altdorf, today Weingarten , † March 21, 1843 in Nuremberg ) was a German porcelain and glass painter .

Life

First, Sauter People did an apprenticeship in the Ludwigsburg porcelain factory under Antonio Isopi . There he learned, among other things, the art of glass melting painting ( cabinet glass painting ).

From here he went to Nuremberg, where he was able to distinguish himself as a glass painter. In particular, the clarity of the color scheme made him stand out. Among his first pictures are a copy of a portrait of Erasmus von Rotterdam after Albrecht Dürer as well as copies of various banners that were created on the occasion of the Dürer celebrations in Nuremberg in 1828 and depicted seven scenes from Dürer's life cyclically.

His students included Johann Jakob Röttinger , Philip Böhmländer and others who supported him in completing his last works.

After suffering from a disease of the spinal cord for a long time, he unexpectedly succumbed to it in March 1843.
