Robert Kerr (Author)

Robert Kerr (* 1755 in Roxburghshire , Scotland , † October 11, 1813 in Edinburgh , Scotland) was a Scottish doctor and in the further life a scientific author , translator and zoologist .

Life

Kerr studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and worked as a surgeon at the Edinburgh Foundling Hospital . He translated various scientific works into English. In 1794 he gave up his post as a surgeon to run a paper mill . In 1788 he was elected a member ( Fellow ) of the Royal Society of Edinburgh .
