A General History and Collection of Voyages and Travels ( General History and Collection of sea and land travel ) is a collection of travelogues that of the Scots Robert Kerr was compiled (1755-1813) and published in the years 1811-1824. The full book title is: A General History and Collection of Voyages and Travels, Arranged in Systematic Order: Forming a Complete History of the Origin and Progress of Navigation, Discovery, and Commerce, by Sea and Land, from the Earliest Ages to the Present Time ( Eng. A general history and collection of sea and land travel, arranged in a systematic order: a complete history of the origins and progress of shipping, making discoveries, and trading by sea and land, from the earliest times to the present day ). She appeared in Edinburgh (William Blackwood), London (Murray and Baldwin) and Dublin (John Cumming).

The collection comprises a total of eighteen volumes. It is comparable to the travelogue collections of Hakluyt ( Principal Navigation, Voiages, Traffiques and Discoueries of the English Nation , 1589–1600) and Pinkerton (1758–1826) ( General Collection of Voyages and Travels , 1808–1814).

In addition to Stevenson's Historical Sketch of the Progress and Discovery, Navigation and Commerce, from the earliest records to the beginning of the Nineteenth Century, Volume 18 contains Stevenson's Historical Sketch of the Progress and Discovery, Navigation and Commerce, from the earliest records to the beginning of the 19th century . Century) a biographical catalog of sea and land trips. The work contains a large variety of " very curious and interesting early journeys, which are otherwise very rarely found in expensive and voluminous collections" .

At the end of the 18th volume, in addition to the aforementioned catalog of sea and land trips, there is a detailed index of the complete work and an overview of the layout of the work.
