Johann Albrecht Adelgrief

Johann Albrecht Adelgrief (* unknown near Elbing , Poland ; † October 11, 1636 ) was a German prophet. He was the son of a Protestant pastor, well versed in the ancient languages. He claimed that seven angels came down from heaven and commissioned him to banish evil from the world and to scourge the monarchs with iron rods. He was imprisoned in Königsberg (Prussia) , charged with witchcraft and sentenced to death. His writings were suppressed.
