Louis III de Bourbon (born October 11, 1668 in Paris , † March 4, 1710 ibid) was a French nobleman , prince of blood and peer of France .

Life

The Duke of Bourbon, as Ludwig was called, was the second son of Henri Jules de Bourbons and the Countess Palatine Anna Henriette von Pfalz-Simmern . He was born in the Hôtel de Condé in Paris. He is described as short, with a large head and yellowish complexion, and as notoriously malevolent and annoying.

He took over the office of Grand Master of France from his father in 1685 and became Knight of the Order of the Holy Spirit the following year . In 1688 he followed the Dauphin to the siege of Philippsburg and the king, Louis XIV. , To the siege of Mons , 1691, and Namur , 1692. He also fought in the battles at Steenkerke and Neerlösungen . In 1694 he acted as Lieutenant-General in Flanders .

After his father's death in 1709, he inherited his titles and offices. However, since the title of First Prince of the Blood had passed to the Duke of Orléans after his death, he no longer called himself Monsieur le Prince - as had previously been granted to the Prince of Condé - but kept the title Monsieur le Duc for the Duke of bourbon. That is why he did not have the title Prince de Condé .

He died suddenly the following year - as it is said of a stroke.
