The art collector Friedrich Christian Flick describes Douglas' eerie montages in the foreword to his monograph as "a critical analysis of our social reality".

Between 2000 and 2006 Stan Douglas was Professor of Media Studies at the Berlin University of the Arts . After the university administration forbade him to hold his seminars en bloc, he left the university in protest.

plant

Douglas is known for his highly complex and technically perfect film and video works, which continuously expand the possibilities of the medium in order to construct non-linear narrative forms and surprising time models. The conceptual and formal precision of Douglas' films is also characteristic of his photographs.
