Arnold Bode Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Arnold Bode Prize of the documenta - City of Kassel has been awarded to artists since 1980 in recognition of their outstanding achievements in contemporary art . The prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, is named after the documenta founder Arnold Bode and is awarded by the Arnold Bode Foundation, which is also named after him. The foundation's share capital comes from a number of works of art that a number of documenta artists donated to Arnold Bode on the occasion of his 75th birthday on December 23, 1975.

The Arnold Bode Prize was awarded annually from 1980 to 1988, since then (usually) every two years, in any case in a documenta year. The award ceremony takes place on the premises of the Kasseler Kunstverein - in connection with an exhibition of works by the award winner.

Participation of the award winner in a documenta is not a prerequisite for the award.
