Hannsjörg Voth
Hannsjörg Voth (born February 6, 1940 in Bad Harzburg ) is a German artist.
Career
Voth was born as the son of the architect Hans-Erich Voth and his wife Elisabeth in Bad Harzburg. In summer 1945 the family moved to Bremervörde , the birthplace of their mother. After an apprenticeship as a carpenter, military service and journeyman years , Voth studied commercial graphics at the Bremen State Art School from 1961 to 1965 . In 1968 he moved to Munich and worked as an art director in an advertising agency. He also started working as a freelance painter and draftsman. Since 1972, Voth has devoted himself exclusively to his own artistic work. During these years numerous acrylic pictures and screen prints were created , which (symbolically) dealt with the topics of lacing and bandage .
Since 1974, with the preparatory work for the Feldzeichen project (implemented in Ingelsberg near Zorneding in April 1975 ), he has been a representative of Conceptual Art and Land Art . During his stay in Morocco, where he lived for a long time, he realized large sculptures such as the Golden Spiral or the City of Orion .
What all of Voth's projects have in common is an often archaic aesthetic and the fact that the works will sooner or later fall apart are subject to impermanence. In the end, only the documentation (catalogs, films, photographs) of the work, in which he is supported by his wife, the photographer Ingrid Voth-Amslinger , often remains .
As a member of the German Association of Artists , Hannsjörg Voth took part in several annual DKB exhibitions between 1972 and 1986. Voth lives and works in Munich.
