history

Church in Dietersheim

The name Dietersheim comes from Deotrihheimma , which means "home of the Deoterich". This is at least the first written mention of the place from the year 859 in Meichelbeck's collection of documents. This happened during the reign of Bishop Anno (854 - 874). In 859, the Bishop of Freising handed over a farm in Dietersheim to the nobleman Cozbert and the noblewoman Wolfpirin. Anno received Wiesen in Ismaning for the Dietersheimer Hof . According to this, Dietersheim was likely to have existed before 859 and was only slightly younger than Eching.

The second oldest written mention of Dietersheim comes from the year 1187. At that time it was about an exchange of land between Bishop Otto II of Freising and the Schäftlarn monastery . Otto got a farm in Dietersheim and handed over the land and farm in Haindlfing to the Schäftlarn monastery.

Since 750 the river Isar has formed the border between the Duchy of Bavaria and the independent enclave Hochstift Freising . Dietersheim was also on this border, but most of the village belonged to the Duchy of Bavaria. This in turn was divided into judicial districts, which roughly corresponded to today's counties. At that time, these districts were headed by so-called keepers (today's district administrators), hence the name " nursing courts ". The nurse responsible for the village of Dietersheim lived in Kranzberg , so Dietersheim was also part of the Kranzberg nursing court. This in turn extended from the Isar in the east to Dachau in the west to Pfaffenhofen, Altomünster and Moosburg in the north. The Kranzberg nursing court was also divided into so-called sub-offices; one of them was "Ambt auf dem Gvill" - responsible for the area around Garching, including Dietersheim. Gvill or G'fild means “slope”, that's the name of the flat land around Eching. In the description of the diocese of Fresing, the Conradic register appeared in 1315 . There Dietrichsheim is mentioned as one of the five branches of Eching. Even then, the place was on the main road between Freising and Munich, i.e. on today's state road 2350 (former federal road 11 ). In the 14th century, stagecoaches and horse-drawn carriages mainly operated on this route.

According to a description of the place from 1471 Dietersheim consisted of eleven properties, all of which were leased, however. At the time, the landlord of six farms was the Bishop of Freising.

In the course of the following 150 years, the number of houses in Dietersheim increased steadily. In 1612 there were already 17 properties in the village, seven of which belonged to the Freising Monastery. But in 1632 almost the whole village was destroyed. Swedes plundered the area; it was the hot phase of the Thirty Years War . On the way to Munich, the Swedish soldiers also paid a visit to Dietersheim. They burned almost all the houses, only the church and a courtyard remained reasonably intact. The Dietersheimers rebuilt their houses, but two years later the Swedes came by again and destroyed everything. The residents built new houses. In 1671 there were again 17 properties in the village. Dietersheim was spared the fate of Mallertshofen , which was never rebuilt, near today's Oberschleißheim .
