Otto II von Berg († March 17, 1220 ) was the 24th Bishop of Freising from 1184 to 1220 .

Otto von Berg comes from the Swabian counts of the von Berg family . His father was Diepold II. Count von Berg-Schelklingen , his mother Gisela von Andechs-Meranien . Otto's brothers Heinrich von Berg , Diepold von Berg and Manegold von Berg were also bishops and abbots. Before his election as Bishop of Freising, Otto was a canon in Magdeburg . In 1189 he was able to obtain court, market and castle rights for the Austrian possessions of the diocese. In 1198 in the double election of Philip of Swabia from the Staufer dynasty and Otto of Braunschweig from the Guelph dynasty , he was only on the Staufer side, but is later to be found in the entourage of Otto IV . In 1215 Otto von Freising paid homage to Friedrich II.

Otto is considered the author of a German translation of the Barlaam and Josaphat legends based on the Latin model.
